New Jersey Ends 2014 on a Positive Note

Thursday, January 15th, 2015

file4741238088930The state of New Jersey has seen some struggle over the past year with casinos closing, online poker seeing less than stellar earnings and more. To close out the year, the state of New Jersey was able to end on a high note as the latest struggles facing the state’s gambling industry. Figures were just released this week showing that the gaming options of the state were able to earn $10.7 million in online earnings which is a nice increase from December of last year.

In 2013, the state was able to earn $6.6 million within the month of December and with the earnings from last year, the state saw an increase of just over $4 million. When it comes to online poker, the state was able to earn just over $2 million in online poker revenues for the month of December in 2014. This was the highest revenues the state had seen for a few months, which was a great way to end the year.

For 2015, the state has some additions already that will help the industry as the year has just begun. Financial institutions have gradually eased up on the restrictions involved along with payment processing so players will be able to easily deposit and withdraw funds with online gaming. Secondly, the 888 Poker site of New Jersey as well as WSOP have teamed up to combine player pools to help increase liquidity. Both sites will offer additional traffic numbers so that players have more competition on the virtual felt.

These changes as well as a New Year will help the city to hopefully have a better year with online gaming revenues as well as land based casino gaming. Other states are beginning to become interested in online gaming including three states already having announced legislation considerations. It will be interesting to see where the industry will stand after 2015. The state is currently the top leader in online gaming but this could easily change if new states begin to offer online gaming this year.

Online Gambling Revenues Increase Significantly in Delaware

Wednesday, December 24th, 2014

file4741238088930With online gambling options available in three different states of the US, players have limited online gaming to choose from. New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware are the only states offering either poker or poker/casino gaming online and New Jersey has taken the top spot as the number one provider in the US. With a small population, Delaware has pulled up the rear since launching online gaming and continues to see poor revenues in the industry. However, for the month of November, the state saw a significant jump which lead to over $30,000 in revenues earned.

For the month of November, the state of Delaware was able to earn $194,898.39 in online gaming revenues. The Delaware Lottery reported the figures and stated this was the best since the month of June when $187,000+ was earned.

In October, the state only earned around $130,000 so this was a significant jump in numbers. In November, 308 online gaming accounts were created which is far less than last November at 2,654, but the online gaming option has just launched so the popularity would of course be in full swing.

Considering the breakdown of earnings, online poker brought in almost $33,000 which is good, but nothing compared to what Nevada and New Jersey are able to pull in. In December of last year, the state was able to earn $106,900 in online poker earnings, which is the current record for the state.

Overall, Delaware continues to perform with gamblers taking to the online poker and casino options but without a large player base, will never see the significant numbers like others in the industry. However, the state is set to partner with Nevada so we could see a nice increase in revenues once interstate game play begins. This was supposed to happen late this year but now seems to have been pushed back until early 2015.

Peppermill Resorts Now Offering Online Poker in Nevada

Wednesday, June 25th, 2014

As of yesterday, a new operator is now available in the state of Nevada when it comes to online poker. Peppermill Resorts is the owner and operator of five casinos in the northern area of the state and will now be offering residents and visitors the opportunity to take part in online poker gaming. Just yesterday, the company launched online poker play in the state with Ultimate Poker, their gaming partner.

Peppermill submitted a press release which stated the particulars of the launch. Players located physically in the state can deposit cash for online game play at the five locations owned by Peppermill, which includes:

  • Peppermill Resort Casino Spa Reno
  • Western Village Inn & Casino
  • Montego Bay Hotel Casino Resort
  • Rainbow Hotel & Casino
  • Peppermill Hotel Casino Wendover
  • To take part, players will need to go to the PeppermillReno.com/Ultimate site to be able to open an online poker gaming account. The account must be created first before any gaming can take place online. Players can then visit the brick and mortar casinos to make a deposit to begin real money game play. When players visit the link, the option to download the Ultimate Poker software is available as well as information on the events and gaming opportunities at the Peppermill Casino.

Tobin Prior is the CEO of Ultimate Gaming, who owns Ultimate Poker, and stated previously that partnering with Peppermill gives the company an opportunity to bring their online poker product to the northern area of Nevada with the ‘extensive customer database’ of Peppermill. This will be the first time a northern Nevada casino has allowed such gaming opportunities.

It was back in March that Peppermill announced the partnership with Ultimate Gaming and what the new partnership would entail. Ultimate Poker will be providing the online poker room services for the Peppermill Casino in Nevada as well as the four other properties of the company.

126,000 Online Gambling Accounts and Counting in New Jersey

Wednesday, January 1st, 2014

file4741238088930New Jersey first launched online gambling for everyone in the state on November 26th. Players quickly began signing up for gaming accounts at the different websites available and as of this past weekend, over 126,000 have been created.  Players have continued to sign up for an account over the past month, giving the state of New Jersey the top spot for online gambling in the US.

The state of New Jersey offers not only online poker gaming but also online casino games which gives them a leg up against the state of Nevada, who only offers online poker gaming. The 126,000+ accounts are impressive, but the official numbers for how many of these accounts are for unique gamblers still remains a mystery. Players can sign up for different sites so one player may have several accounts, which will have to be considered in a more particular count.

As of this past Sunday the online gaming account total was at over 126,231, which is just over 16,000 accounts more than the previous week. This is a significant increase and shows that gamblers are interested in online game play. Several casinos in the state have created online gaming sites, these include:

Trump Plaza

Tropicana Casino and Resort

Borgata

Trump Taj Mahal

Bally’s Atlantic City

Golden Nugget

Caesars Atlantic City

When it comes to online poker in The Garden State, it is the Party Borgata Network that reigns supreme. This network has around 240 players on a seven day average for cash game play. This is relatively fifty percent of the market and solidifies the company as a top provider for online poker gaming. So far, the state of New Jersey is the dominate state when it comes to online gambling in the US, though there are only 3 states total in the market. However, 2014 may see many changes and more states may pass legislation and become competition for NJ online casinos.

Players Continue to Register for Online Game Play in New Jersey

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013

Nevada may have seen less than stellar numbers when it comes to online poker game play, but players in New Jersey are not shy about online gambling. The state has seen signups continue since the trial launch on the 21st of November and now over 50,000 accounts exist in the state.

Since this past Friday, over 14,000 accounts have been created by online gamblers and the state is hoping that players continue to log on and gamble. Since the 25th of November, six casinos in the state of New Jersey have offered online gambling options. The following casinos are live with online options:

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa

Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

Tropicana Casino and Resort

Bally’s Atlantic City

Caesars Atlantic City

Now the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City should be going live soon and possibly this week, if the problems the company has experienced are repaired. This week marks the second full week that the state will offer online gambling and more data should be available over the coming weeks with bets placed, accounts and more.

The state even saw 5,000 new accounts created on Thanksgiving Day. Gamblers either had time to log on and check out the online casinos or turkey day led to major boredom and players wanted to place a few bets. Either way the numbers were good and the state’s gambling division is expected to release the initial figure reports starting in January.

The expansion in New Jersey makes the state the third in the US to offer online gambling options as well as the first time the state has expanded in such a capacity. The state first began to offer gambling in 1978 and has since become one of the most popular gambling destinations in the US.
