PartyPoker powered online poker site, Borgata Poker, is one of the few online poker sites available in the state of New Jersey. The site is one of the more popular options and provides players with a nice selection of tournament and cash game options. The site recently announced that they are going to increase the Sunday guaranteed tournament from the $50,000 prize pool to $100,000.

This special edition of the tournament will take place on March 2nd, so players still have plenty of time to take part. The regular Sunday tournament is very popular but with the increase of the prize pool, the tournament is sure to be even more popular in March.

New players to the site will be able to take part in the tournament as well as earn a $20 credit for being a new member. The tournament will take place two weeks from this Sunday so players in the state should be registered in this time frame to compete.

New Jersey Online Poker Room To Try New Poker Variant

Friday, February 7th, 2014

file4741238088930Online poker rooms tend to stick with the standard gaming options: Hold’em and Omaha. These gaming options can be found in different forms but tend to be the most popular forms of poker found in online game play. However, many sites will offer unusual forms of poker or odd variants so that players have the opportunity to try new games. Ultimate Poker, which is available in both New Jersey and Nevada, has now announced they are offering a new Hold’em variant called Two Street Hold’em.

The new game will go live on February 10th for a trial run. The game is based on Hold’em but players can only see two betting streets. One preflop betting round takes place and then five community cards are dealt. The river is the last betting round before the showdown. The games has less betting rounds and a larger ante which should see more action post flop.

The Product Manager of Ultimate Poker, Chris Danek, stated that he wanted to design a game that would give people the same joy and fun that hold’em provides without the needless folding. The first game will take place on the 10th in play money form. Ultimate Poker employees as well as pros representing the site will take part in game play.

The gaming option will be in test form but UP has researched the game to see if players would enjoy the option. by the 14th, the Nevada room will offer two real money options with $1/2 blinds and $1 ante. The games will be available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Valentine’s Day weekend.

The new option is one that will be followed closely in the industry. It is always interesting to see what types of games players enjoy and if the new option will become a popular new trend.

New Jersey Online Poker Continues to Grow While Nevada/Delaware Stagnant

Thursday, January 16th, 2014

Online poker is readily available in three states in the US: Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey. Nevada was the first to launch followed by Delaware and then New Jersey. While many expected the state of Nevada to be the most successful, it was New Jersey that has been the most effective by offering online poker gaming. The state of New Jersey continues to grow steadily as Nevada and Delaware have gotten a little stagnant.

According to recent reports by Poker Scout, New Jersey has continued to see steady growth since first launching on November 21st. the state has seen very large spikes in member accounts and continue to see a nice growth in player accounts. At the same time, the state of Nevada and Delaware have seen a slowdown in member accounts. In January, Nevada saw a nice increase in player accounts but it is now back down in numbers.

Nevada is having trouble adding to their player numbers and after the WSOP.com launched, the member accounts seemed to slow down. The World Series of Poker will begin this May so it will be interesting to see if special promotions or satellites to events will see a large spike in player numbers.

Delaware has only seen just over 4,000 player accounts due to small population. Both Delaware and Nevada have discussed a partnership to see interstate game play but nothing has yet to come of these talks. If the two could work together, there would be larger player pools which would help both states generate more player traffic.

Online gambling is only a few months old so there is still time for Nevada and Delaware to catch up. Also, other states may come in the mix this year so it will be interesting to see if New Jersey will be able to keep the top spot.

126,000 Online Gambling Accounts and Counting in New Jersey

Wednesday, January 1st, 2014

file4741238088930New Jersey first launched online gambling for everyone in the state on November 26th. Players quickly began signing up for gaming accounts at the different websites available and as of this past weekend, over 126,000 have been created.  Players have continued to sign up for an account over the past month, giving the state of New Jersey the top spot for online gambling in the US.

The state of New Jersey offers not only online poker gaming but also online casino games which gives them a leg up against the state of Nevada, who only offers online poker gaming. The 126,000+ accounts are impressive, but the official numbers for how many of these accounts are for unique gamblers still remains a mystery. Players can sign up for different sites so one player may have several accounts, which will have to be considered in a more particular count.

As of this past Sunday the online gaming account total was at over 126,231, which is just over 16,000 accounts more than the previous week. This is a significant increase and shows that gamblers are interested in online game play. Several casinos in the state have created online gaming sites, these include:

Trump Plaza

Tropicana Casino and Resort

Borgata

Trump Taj Mahal

Bally’s Atlantic City

Golden Nugget

Caesars Atlantic City

When it comes to online poker in The Garden State, it is the Party Borgata Network that reigns supreme. This network has around 240 players on a seven day average for cash game play. This is relatively fifty percent of the market and solidifies the company as a top provider for online poker gaming. So far, the state of New Jersey is the dominate state when it comes to online gambling in the US, though there are only 3 states total in the market. However, 2014 may see many changes and more states may pass legislation and become competition for NJ online casinos.

Players Continue to Register for Online Game Play in New Jersey

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013

Nevada may have seen less than stellar numbers when it comes to online poker game play, but players in New Jersey are not shy about online gambling. The state has seen signups continue since the trial launch on the 21st of November and now over 50,000 accounts exist in the state.

Since this past Friday, over 14,000 accounts have been created by online gamblers and the state is hoping that players continue to log on and gamble. Since the 25th of November, six casinos in the state of New Jersey have offered online gambling options. The following casinos are live with online options:

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa

Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

Tropicana Casino and Resort

Bally’s Atlantic City

Caesars Atlantic City

Now the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City should be going live soon and possibly this week, if the problems the company has experienced are repaired. This week marks the second full week that the state will offer online gambling and more data should be available over the coming weeks with bets placed, accounts and more.

The state even saw 5,000 new accounts created on Thanksgiving Day. Gamblers either had time to log on and check out the online casinos or turkey day led to major boredom and players wanted to place a few bets. Either way the numbers were good and the state’s gambling division is expected to release the initial figure reports starting in January.

The expansion in New Jersey makes the state the third in the US to offer online gambling options as well as the first time the state has expanded in such a capacity. The state first began to offer gambling in 1978 and has since become one of the most popular gambling destinations in the US.
