New Tournament Style Launches Today at Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt PokerFull Tilt Poker is an online poker site that provides a nice selection of cash gaming and tournament options. Today a new tournament style is being released by the online poker room that players are sure to enjoy. Flipout Tournaments will launch today on the Full Tilt Poker client, getting players straight into the action at the gaming tables.

Players will be able to flip straight to the action with this new tournament style. Everyone who wins goes right into the money. no more short stack or money bubble or hours of pressure poker. The first round of game play will consist of all players going all in to determine who the winner is. The remaining players will then be reseated according to a standard multi-table tournament format. The event will then continue according to a standard betting structure. Players who are able to win the first round flip will be automatically in the money.

Sarne Lightman spoke to PokerNews on the new tournament option and stated that Flipout is an obvious time saver. Players will be in the money for a large tournament, which can be hard to do in regular game play. The average skilled player will be able to be on the money and enjoy tournament game play in a quicker time frame.

Starting today, the new format will be available for players to enjoy. Sit-n-gos will be available that will allow for the flip round and then move the players forward, with the automatic option of being in the money. Players will be able to experience a final table and play for big money when they might not ordinarily be able to do so. It will be interesting to see how well received the new format option is by players at Full Tilt Poker.

Poker Only for Top Online Poker Room

PokerstarsPokerStars is a top online poker room known for offering high quality cash game and tournament play. Full Tilt Poker is the sister site of PokerStars and recently launched casino gaming options. This had many in the industry wondering if PokerStars would add casino gaming as well.

According to a TwoPlusTwo Question and Answer Session with Steve Day, a representative for PokerStars, the site will not be adding casino games. Day stated that as of right now there are no plans for casino games to be added to the client at PokerStars.

Day is not going to say never, but as of right now, PokerStars is going to be poker and nothing else. Day stated ‘We are Poker’ and will offer nothing else. PokerStars has a full plate as of right now with several live poker tours and tournaments, regular online gaming and promotional opportunities. It also seems odd to think that PokerStars might begin to dabble in online casino games.

Full Tilt Poker first began to offer casino gaming in January of this year with the addition of blackjack and roulette. With the addition of these games to the poker client, the Rational Group marked the first time that games of a non-poker variety were offered for real money game play.

Slot gaming is also expected by Spring of this year with the recent partnership of The Rational Group with Leander Games. Slots will be added to Full Tilt due to the partnership in the coming months. The Full Tilt Poker site is also looking to possibly offer sports betting to members of the site.

So, for now, players can enjoy online casino and poker gaming at Full Tilt Poker. PokerStars will remain an online poker site and will not be adding casino gaming options at this time.

Poker Pro Chris Moorman Finally Earns Major Title Win

Chris Moorman is a well-known poker pro who has made a living at taking down monster pots at the felt. Despite his skill of the game, Moorman has yet to be able to take down a major tournament win, time after time. However, the pro recently finished first at the 2014 World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic to earn his first major title win!

Moorman was able to outlast the field of competitors and take down Glenn Lafaye in heads up play to earn the $1 million first place prize. As nice as $1 million is, the pro was happier to finally break his long streak without earning a major title win.
In the past, Moorman has made the final table of several events but was unable to close the deal. He has came close in WSOP Europe play, the European Poker Tour, the World Series of Poker and even the Aussie Millions.

After earning the win, Moorman now has earned almost $4 million in live tournament game play. He has also done better in online game play, earning around $11 million online. During the latest tournament win, Moorman took the lead during heads up play and never looked back. He took down the win after just a few hands with pocket Aces against Lafaye’s 5-4. Lafaye was on a straight draw but the river and turn were not what he needed giving Moorman the win and his first ever major title.

Possible Shot Clock Coming to World Poker Tour

The World Poker Tour is a tournament series that travels the world to host highly anticipated poker gaming. Pros from across the globe attend the various events in the hopes of gaining a World Poker Tour title. The WPT has now polled players to see how they would feel about a new addition to the tournament rules. Players have been asked if they would be alright with adding a shot clock to game play.

During the LA Poker Classic Main Event, players were asked if they would like to see a shot clock added to game play during the next season. Marvin Rettenmaier provided information about the poll which stated how the shot clock would work.

Players would have only thirty seconds to decide how to play a hand. After the thirty second time frame is up, the player would have their hand claimed dead. Players would be given time buttons that would give an additional sixty seconds so that decisions can be made with a longer time frame. These buttons can be used individually or in combination with others.

Players were able to say Yes or No to the questions and then they could decide when the shot clock could be used. Players were asked if a shot clock should be used in the money, at the final three tables or at the final table.

Adam Pliska is the President of the WPT and he spoke with Poker News and stated that the World Poker Tour continues to try and find new ways to improve the overall tournament experience for players. Pliska along with others associated with WPT have considered adding a shot clock in a limited capacity and wanted to know the players reactions to this possible addition. Player feedback can always be helpful in determining if an addition is a good one.

Full Tilt Repayments to Begin Today

Full Tilt PokerEarlier this week, the Garden City Group announced that the Full Tilt Poker reimbursement process should begin for some players today. The claims administrator updated the Full Tilt Poker Claims site to tell players that if they had passed the bank testing phase, payments would begin starting today.

ACH deposits should begin today for those who had correct paperwork and an undisputed claim. The Garden City Group will begin to pay the payments in which the information they had and what players turned in was correct. Players have been without their funds since mid-2011 and have been waiting for this day for some time.

Players who had sent in information that was incorrect or incomplete should have received an email from the Garden City Group. The email listed what players needed to do to update bank account info to compete the process. If the updated information is not received by the 13th of March, the GCG will be sending a check to the mailing address the have on file for the player. These players should receive their payment via bank account, if the new info is sent in, during the second go round of payments.

It was just this past January that the Garden City Group approved to pay back some $82 million to former players of Full Tilt Poker in the US. Close to 30,000 players had their balance withheld back in April of 2011.

Though the $82 million is quite large, this is not even half of what players were originally due after the site was shut down in the United States. Players have had to put up with a great deal and the whole ordeal grew quite tiresome some time ago. Hopefully, the payments will run smoothly and players will be reunited quickly with their long lost funds.

Borgata Faces Lawsuit for Counterfeit Chip Scandal

file4741238088930The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City is no stranger to hosting various gambling events. The casino is known for hosting tournaments and gaming options, many of which are revered in the gambling community. The Borgata Poker Open is one such event that is popular and anticipated by gamblers. The event was recently subject to counterfeit chips and the casino now faces a lawsuit from players in the event who felt as though the casino did not supervise the event as they should.

The event had a buy-in of $560 and had a $2 million prize pool with 4,000+ players competing. The lawsuit involves most every player who feels the casino was in the wrong. The event was suspended and then canceled with only 27 players left to compete. The prize pool has been frozen and no one has been paid their winnings as of yet.

Players feel as though the casino should have done a better job of protecting the event from this type of instance. Several feel as though the casino took part in fraud and negligence and should compensate players for what took place.

With the suit, players are trying to get their buy-in back as well as travel costs. A lawyer involved in the case stated that this is one of the cleanest claims seen in decades of practicing law. The representative stated that the casino may say this was a learning experience for them; it comes at the expense of thousands of players who traveled to New Jersey to take part in the tournament, which they expected to be run well.

Christian Lusardi has been arrested in connection with the case after hotel employees traced a plumbing problem to his hotel room. It was then revealed that that the poker player had tried to flush the toilet with remaining counterfeit poker chips.

Online Casino Website Hacking Investigation Shows Further Damage

The Sands websites were under attack just a few days ago thanks to remarks made by Sheldon Adelson on foreign affairs. The hackers were able to gain entry into the websites and post information of employees of the company such as email and contact information. The websites were shut down for several days before the damage was reversed.

A video was uploaded to YouTube which showed the damage done to the websites, which was posted by the hackers. The video was posted by the Anti WMD team and showed several administrator passwords such as slot machine systems, player information and more. The internal networks were also compromised during the hack.

Ron Reese, a spokesman for the company, stated that the investigation showed that the hackers had reached the internal drives of the company and were able to see information of office productivity which is comprised of documents and spreadsheets. Employee data may have also been compromised during the hacking.

The Sands Company was unaware of any additional data being seen by the hackers until the video was placed on YouTube by the Anti WMD Team. The attack first started last Monday when the hackers made the company email accounts unusable. The very next day the hackers were able to get into the websites and change the look of the site, showing personal information of employees.

Investigators believe the hackers used the PASands.com site to be able to start the attack on the gambling company. Bethlehem seems to be the access point and it is unclear though how the hackers were able to gain access to the other sites from the Bethlehem site.

The attack seems to be a result of comments that Adelson made during a speech in New York. Adelson state that the US should bomb Iran to end the Nuclear ambitions of the country.

Online Casino Websites Back Online After Hack Job

On the 11th of this month the websites for the Las Vegas Sands Corporation were under attack. The websites showed various pictures of Sheldon Adelson with the leader of Israel and had pointed remarks towards the owner in a negative light. Even information of employees such as social security numbers and email addresses were listed during the hacking. Once the Sands discovered the hack job, the online sites for the company were shut down.

It took several days before the sites would go back online and get things back to normal. In the between, a video was placed on YouTube by the hackers but has since been taken down. According to investigation reports, the hackers were able to reach the internal drives of the company to access the information about the employees from documents and spreadsheets.

Investigators have seen the YouTube video and are continuing to investigate the matter. They are trying to find if any customer data or employee data was compromised as part of the computer hacking. The FBI as well as the Secret Service are working on the case. No one has come forward as of yet to claim their part in the debacle but the hackers have named themselves the Anti WMD Team.

This incident seems to stem from when Adelson visited the Yeshiva University located in New York and was a speaker at the University. It was during his speech that Adelson suggested that Iran be bombed by the United States and during the hacking, words were used that seemed to be angry about Adelson’s speech.

The sites are now back up and running and the investigation continues. It will be interesting to see if the hackers are revealed or if they come forward and discuss why they decided to mess with several Las Vegas casino websites.

Borgata Poker To Host Major Guarantee Tournament

PartyPoker powered online poker site, Borgata Poker, is one of the few online poker sites available in the state of New Jersey. The site is one of the more popular options and provides players with a nice selection of tournament and cash game options. The site recently announced that they are going to increase the Sunday guaranteed tournament from the $50,000 prize pool to $100,000.

This special edition of the tournament will take place on March 2nd, so players still have plenty of time to take part. The regular Sunday tournament is very popular but with the increase of the prize pool, the tournament is sure to be even more popular in March.

Poker pro Mike Sexton commented on the special tournament by stating that when PartyPoker entered the online gaming market of New Jersey, they wanted to promise the most lucrative and best tournament options available online. Sexton stated that with the $100k guarantee option, the site will be putting their money where their mouth is!

The last time the Sunday tournament took place, the site saw just over 370 players competing and the total prize pool was worth $69,000. More players are sure to sign up to compete in the $100,000 edition of the tournament and it will be interesting to see just how many more players compete in the event.

Players can easily sign up at the Borgata Poker site to take part in the special edition of the tournament, but players must be located within the borders of the state. New players to the site will be able to take part in the tournament as well as earn a $20 credit for being a new member. The tournament will take place two weeks from this Sunday so players in the state should be registered in this time frame to compete.

Parx Casino Taking Methods to Avoid Counterfeit Gaming Chips

file4741238088930Every casino across the United States takes certain measures to ensure the security of the casino as well as players. Surveillance cameras, security personal and more are used to keep the games running smoothly and players safe. However, there are ways for criminals to get around security, take for example the recent counterfeit chips debacle in New Jersey. A poker player in the Borgata Winter Poker Open was able to place millions in poker chips into game play. Now a Pennsylvania casino is putting a measure in place to protect the casino from this type of situation.

According to a recent interview by PokerNews with Matt Glantz of Parx Casino, a new policy has been set in place by the casino to help keep counterfeit chips from game play. The Parx Casino is located in Bensalem and will implement the new policy to track the chips in game play. This policy was especially put in place as the Parx BigStaxV starts in a few days.

Glantz told Poker News that the recent incident in New Jersey posed concern for the poker community. The poker industry needs to take appropriate steps to ensure this does not happen. The Parx facility has taken a complete inventory of the chips involved in tournament play before an event begins as well as after every tournament. These steps are required by the Gaming Control Board of the state and a report must also be sent to the Bureau of Gaming Operations after each event showing any discrepancies in the chip inventory.

As the BigStaxV takes place this February, a new policy will be put in place. Each tournament that takes place in the poker room at Parx, the dealer at every table will count and log the highest denomination chips for each seat at the poker tables. Breaks will be strategically placed during the tournament so the dealer can make these recordings. The staff on the poker floor will then be responsible for verifying as well as combining the logs to create one master list to be used for the event.

Floor supervisors must also count and log each chip, high and low denominations, at each table when the dinner break occurs. The casino understands that there is nothing to stop a criminal from placing fake chips in game play but by checking in this manner, hopefully an incident like the Borgata can be avoided.
