Rakeback On An Existing Account?
Can I get rakeback on an existing account?
Most online poker sites do not allow existing players to convert their accounts to rakeback. If you have an existing account at a poker site and would like to get rakeback there, just send us an e-mail and we will let you know if we can convert your account over to rakeback.
If it’s not possible to convert your account to rakeback, not all hope is lost. There are many large, successful poker sites out there and if you want rakeback, all you have to do is sign up at a poker site where you don’t yet have an account. Many poker networks out there have multiple skins where you can sign up for new accounts.
What are “skins”?
Before we get to skins, it’s best we first talk about poker networks. Poker networks are collections of poker sites that share players, tables and tournaments. Usually, a large poker site starts a poker network and then it allows other sites to join that network. Each site on the network has its own promotions and sign up bonuses, but they all share the same tables.
If you’re playing on the Cake Network , for example, you might be playing against players from Cake Poker, PlayersOnly Poker and several other sites. Each of the poker sites on the network is called a skin. You can have several different accounts on the same poker network as long as each account is at a different skin.
Why can’t I just create a new account at the same site?
Some rakeback affiliates will tell you to do just that but it’s a terrible idea. Those rakeback affiliates are not looking out for your own (or even their own) best interest because poker sites strongly condemn players creating new accounts at the same site. Anyone who tells you to do so is out to make a quick dollar at your expense.
If you create a new account at the same poker site, that new account will eventually be closed and you won’t be allowed to play at that poker site again. This has happened to many players. So far, those players’ money has been returned to them after their accounts were closed but it’s not worth testing your luck when there are other solutions out there.
Alright, cut to the chase. What should I do?
First, you should send us an e-mail and ask if we can convert your existing account over to rakeback. Most of the time we won’t be able to but it doesn’t hurt to ask. If we can’t switch your account, we will respond with several other options.
Those options will be for you to either sign up for a new account on a different skin on the same poker network or to sign up at a totally separate poker site. There are many solid poker sites out there so whatever happens, you won’t have to play without rakeback. No matter how much you love your current poker site, it’s just not worth playing there without rakeback.
